The Universe Out of Format

Chronotope

An evening of poetry for those who don’t like poetry evenings.

The performance is built on the poems of Yuri Smirnov, which seek to paralyze and reorganize the entire world at once — and sometimes succeed. Yuri Smirnov lives in the Ukrainian city of Kropyvnytskyi and writes in Russian — tender and sharp, enveloping and disorienting.

Performers Ekaterina Kramarenko, Anastasia Balueva, and Alisher Umarov create a special space for poetry to sound. They set time in motion in such a way that the poems become audible, remove everything unnecessary, and leave a closed, airless space where rarefied time and silence amplify the aesthetic power of the text many times over, multiplying its meanings.
