"How do we act when we are not?" Workshop
Schedule
Tue, June 3, 15:00
Location
Metro Theater, Garegin Nzhdeh Square metro station
How do we act when we are not acting? What does it mean to be present during the performance? This questions are at the heart of the classical theory of theatre. According to this theory, "act" is the basic unit of theatre practice, and without it, there can be no theatre. If an actor is not acting, they are not an actor.
However, when we look at acting from a more theoretical perspective, we can see that the concept of "act" itself is not so clear. The more we understand the psychology behind acting, the harder it is to define what exactly constitutes an act.
During the master class, Aleksandr Plotnikov will explore this topic with the audience. The audience will have the opportunity to both act and not act, and to explore the difference between the two. Techniques such as presence, emptiness, and the energy of non-action will be discussed and investigated.
